Early Life & Family

The son of Carla Acquarelli (1956-), a primary school teacher, and Fabio Fabbri, a surveyor at the local town hall (1953-2016) – he grew up in Pianoro, a little town in the province of Bologna. A lifelong polyglot, he developed a passion for acting, foreign languages and communication early on in his life. His paternal great-grandfather Nello was a renowned puppeteer and together with his son Alfonso (Saverio’s grandfather) and Fabio (his father) – they used to tour the whole region Emilia Romagna to perform in their Bolognese dialect puppet show. Although that turned out to be a very successful business, all members of the troupe had a main occupation and always loved and mainly considered puppets as a fun way to make people happy.

Nello was a local policeman, Alfonso ran his own company as a house and church painter and Fabio, a surveyor as above-mentioned, was also a very talented painter and loved creating different pieces of art, such as manufacturing Nativity scenes or little villages from raw materials. Fabio was also the groundsman and coordinator of Bologna Cricket Club, the team Saverio used to play for when he was in Italy.
